Please stop trying to plan trips in group chats, for the love of God

There is not a worse way in the world of planning a trip with friends than using a group chat, and yet this is how all of my friends seem to do it.

The reason this is so terrible is because you & your friends are trying to solve an intertwined constraint satisfaction problem at the same time in a sequential format. None of the decisions made are easily reachable and recallable, and if you want to return to any earlier part in the conversation to question an earlier decision based on new information, it’s impossible:

We need a better way of planning group trips. Something that has the ability to track multiple different conversations about multiple different things, resolve multifactorial constraints, record decisions, keep track of who's paid what, and much more. I think for now a well set-up Notion template with collaborators makes the most sense for this task, and I made one you can try out:
